Follow Friday. (5)

Have you entered my 100 + 200 follower giveaway yet? It's open Worldwide!

This week I'm again joining the Follow Friday Meme, hosted by Parajunkee and Alison can Read.

The question this week is-

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

A. No, I don't think I have... though I have become, sadly, scepticle about books that I've wanted to read for ages from bad reviews, making me less likely to buy but still keen to get out from the library ect. Luckily I'd already read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer when I saw a terrible review of it- I'd been waiting on it for about 4 or 5 months and the reviewer HATED it. It is one of my all time favourites!

I'd love a link to your follow friday!
Happy easter!

  1. I try not to pay attention to reviews either. Of course if I see a lot of good reviews, I will read it for sure.

  2. It's good you didn't let that one review keep you from reading Mara Dyer. That's one of my FAVORITE books as well!! It just goes to show, even if one person hated a particular book you can't let their opinion dictate your own.

  3. Bad reviews only scare me off if they specifically mention something that I HATE (like, infidelity, or forced nudity), and I admit, even then? Sometimes I'll buy it anyway just to see if it was really that bad :P

Thanks for stopping by! Following back :)

  4. What Jess said!

But I definitely don't let one bad review scare me off, especially if it's for a book I've been eagerly anticipating!

  5. i found after a while you know who's reviews to listen to and what to look for.
for instance nomes from inkcrush usually has a similar view to me. a few months ago when forbidden had just come out i thought it sounded really good, then nomes reviewed it and listed many things she disliked which i always dislike in novels to, because of that i haven't read it.
i think reading reviews takes practice, you learn what certain things mean, and what the reviewers your reading like compared to you, because clearly you're never going to think the exact same thing as someone about a novel.

it's usually worth taking the risk if you think the book sounds good.

  7. I really loved The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer too! I agree, most books just depend upon the person reading them. The library is always a safe option: no fees! lol.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm now following back. Hope you have a lovely weekend :]

  9. Hi Romi

I like your answer. I can't say that I ever read that book. But I hopefully read this one because it is on my to-read list.
