What I thought:
I couldn't get into the story of Someone Else's Life- right from the beginning I was a little confused, as it goes between two stories, a mystery (until later in the story) girl and then to Rosie, alternating chapter by chapter, and that didn't make any sense to me to start with, or for quite a while- I couldn't understand what was happening, so that was a downside for quite a lot of the story; the other reason I didn't particularly enjoy it and overall didn't like this book, I just couldn't see what Rosie was seeing- I don't like some of the things she decided to do and couldn't feel any sympathy for her character, though I should've.
I don't like the cover in the flesh as much as I liked it when I saw pictures of it- the weeping flowers drawn on Rosie's desk look wrong and the model portraying Rosie, though looking how I picture Rosie, doesn't look 100% right, but then, thinking about it more, she is supopsed to have come back from her mother's funeral, I think (the red dress she wore to the funeral) so she fits it more when I think about that.
So for me, Someone Else's Life is actually Someone Else's Read- I would recommend trying to find an excerpt or borrowing a copy before comitting to buying your own, just in case you don't like it.

that's a shame because i really like the look of the cover and thought the huntington's/not real mother idea could make a really interesting story.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sad! I had been looking forward to this one, but I have to admit it was mostly cover love. Thanks for the review!
