Top Ten Tuesday (8) Character Names.

Top ten tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where the people of the blogverse do some spotlighting in groups of ten, ocassionally (*ahem* often *ahem*) pushing the rules to the limits. In the best ways.

This week is all about character names, so I'm sharing ten of my all time favourite character names. The list doesn't have images or words to explain why, as they usually do over here- I just request you take your time and say each name aloud.

1. Luna Lovegood.
2. Kami Glass.
3. Finnick Odair.
4. Augustus Waters.
5. Isola Wilde.
6. Mara Dyer.
7. Lyra Belacqua.
8. Sunny Baudelaire.
9. Effie Trinket.
10. Dustfinger.

  1. I also love the names Luna Lovegood, Kami Glass, and Sunny Baudelaire (only picking characters that I have 'met' before). They are so pretty, aren't they? Some other names that I like are Lacie Baskerville and Leonard Peacock! Great list!

    1. Ooh, those names are so wonderous! I'm definitely going to look up what books they come from- good character names, good and interesting, are always an excellent thing to have! I recently met September from The Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland, and she is incredible.

    1. It's nice, isn't it? I'm just slightly worried that her actual name, if we ever find out what it is, will be a huge let down!
      Thanks!

    1. It's nice, isn't it? I think it is very versatile, because there's Effy in skins, and from what I know her name suits her, and Effie suits Ms. Trinket so well!

  4. I have no idea why I didn't put Mara Dyer on my list. I like her whole name more than just her first on its own. I think if I was talking to her I'd probably just be annoying and call her Mara Dyer all the time. I hope if we find out her real name it's not less awesome. Great list :)

    1. I agree, but I honestly don't think we're ever going ot find out her real name- Mara Dyer has, for me at least, become her, and not knowing her true name makes it a little more spooky! (And I would, also, just call her Mara Dyer all. of. the. time.)

    1. Harry Potter boasts such a wonderful array of character names- I love Luna because of her personality, but her name is a wonderous addition! Also, Xenophilous.

  6. Lyra also made my list, I absolutely love that name and such a great book series as well. My STS.

    1. Oh, isn't it just wonderful? Thought provoking, too- I only read it last year, but I think it's time I got those books out again!

  7. I forgot about Lula Lovegood and Effie Trinket- they would have definitely made my list! I haven't read Mara Dyer but I've heard good things about it, so hopefully I'll get around to it.

    1. I like the fact that you can appreciate a character's name, even if you don't love the character themselves- I quite like Effie, but I don't love her; her name, however, I really like.

    1. I haven't even read book two yet, but by your reaction it seems likely to be just as fantastic as the first! Can't wait to read it!

  9. I love the name Luna too. I like how it sounds like a cat name :) Probably because of the cat in Sailor Moon :D

    1. I haven't watched that in years- though I never watched it throughly. A cat called Luna sounds wonderful! I also love how it's the moon... it's really pretty.

  10. I have an Augustus on my list, too, but it's Augustus Gloop. :) Thanks for visiting!

    1. It's a really changeable name, Augustus- Waters and Gloop are both really different characters, and whether it's their last name or the knowledge of the characters themselves, the name seems very different for each, too.

  12. Such an interesting list! May I please borrow the idea for my blog?

Thank you for including my Isola up there! Suzanne Collins does the most beautiful surnames - Abernathy, Hawthorne, Everdeen...

    1. Well the idea isn't my own- it's part of a blog hop that started at The Broke and the Bookish, so all credit for the original idea goes to them.

Ah, you're welcome- Isola is so magical a name.
