Mise-en-scéne (1)

Mise-en-scéne is a new feature I'm going to be participating in semi-regularly. It's quite gorgeous and basically there's a theme, you take a photograph and post it. Find out more (or join in!) here.

Lights.

Recently I worked on converting my bedroom, and now I have this beautiful lamp in a reading nook where my old bed used to be. It was, I believe, hand embroidered by my grandmother and I've had it for years, moving it from one area of my room to another and loving it every moment. It gives out the perfect amount of light and the images on every side are so utterly gorgeous. They captivate me as much as any story.

  1. Wow that is a gorgeous lamp! The stitched images are wonderful! It's so lovely that there is a history to it too, I'm sure you will have that lamp with you wherever you move to, and it can be something you can keep in your family. It's absolutely perfect for a book nook! :)

    1. Thank you, Charlene! It's one of my favourite things and I just love seeing it sitting there everyday. I totally agree with you on the history- it's nice knowing it was my grandmothers, that she crafted the design, even if I haven't known for very long about that element! xx

  2. That really is an awesome lamp, made all the more special if your grandmother had a hand in it. Very pretty :)

  4. Oh, wow, it was made be your grandmother? That is talent and dedication right there. No wonder from one glance, I already felt it was such a heartfelt and homey lamp. It truly looks gorgeous. My sorry excuse of a lamp is a generic one and I'm so jealous of yours! For real!

    1. It so is. It's so cold in my room that I've not used my nook yet (it was only formed recently), but when spring comes I'll be hauled up there ALL THE TIME. This one lets out the most gorgeous light, though. So nice. Thank you so much, Vlora! x

  8. I love this... I love that it has meaning and you have been able to incorporate it into you decor. I find that when I surround myself with stuff that means something to me I love it even more. My house doesn't really match.. but all the things in it came from someone at sometime.

    1. Right on, Angela. I feel a personal connection to it and I love having that in the things I own. I love having a history to it and making a history for it. The importance level just goes up, when it's that way. xx
